Old Masters of Photography

Last year I was asked to be a part of the film team interviewing some of the old and famous lithuanian photographers, as a translator and an interviewer. These documentaries were produced for the online platform called foto.tv. I didn’t have to think much to say yes and was more than excited to meet them all. Since my childhood I know most of them, learned from their books at university, went to their exhibitions.

The pictures above were taken short before or after the actual interviews, not much time or energy left for changing the scene or adjusting anything. The schedule was quite tight, since most of our interviews were shot at photographers’ homes in various cities in Lithuania. Most of them gave up active photographing many years ago and spend their time taking care of their huge archives. Some of them, like Butyrinas,  suffer severe illnesses and spend most of their time in hospitals or in bed.
